This is a chess table that I made a while ago out of cherry, purple heart, and yellow heart. The drawer handles were made by my daughter who is a blacksmith. The two chairs, one ash and one cherry sat with the table in a local coffee shop for over a year and are still rock solid but there were many times when I was in the shop and shuddered as I watch some very large patrons sit down on them. The chairs are back in our dining room now but the table is still in the coffee shop and even though I made it, it doesn’t help my game one bit.

Really like this one. Something I’ve often thought about making myself. Game table motif is an excellent idea for a gift for a grown child or family member. Dual purpose, yet extremely functional.

Lovely chess table! Great craftsmanship and design. The finish looks very nice as well.

Thanks…after a year in a coffee shop the table is looking pretty beat up but it was meant to be used and it is. I might refinish the surface this winter. Maybe that will improve my game.

Make the surface erally slippery so you can fudge some of the pieces if needed.
Great table. and hardware.

Beautiful table. Must be nice to have your “hardware” person at your disposal – she does nice work.

I’m not wild about the hardware, but the table is beautiful!

I agree with “mot” , the hardware really doesn’t compliment the table even though I do like the hardware style by itself ( Rustic / Western Frontier / Cowboy stirrup-ish ) where as the table seems to be more “upper crust ” in its styling and superb finish. Just my opinion though : )

The table is excellent. I saw the pieces and thought to myself, “That isn’t the chess set a novice buys.” Then I saw the clock.
Nice set. Clock. Coffee house. Uh huh. You hustler!
