That end grain is amazing. I didn’t realize alder was an “acceptable” wood for cutting boards?

Great looking cutting board. Very nice use of the end grain patterns.

@Gary: I looked it up. Box Elder is a relative (or type of) maple. It’s in the Acer family anyway. I would expect it to be perfectly fine for cutting boards.
Alder is fine too. I don’t think it’s quite as hard as maple but it’s a nice wood.
