Wow! What a story there is behind this piece of furniture. It looks great now.
What type of finish did you put on it?
Did you spray the finish, and, if so, what type of system are you using?

Thank You, I had a lot of fun doing this one. The finish is 2 coats of Target wb shellac (amber), sanded smooth(400) then applied Valspar wb wipping stain (burnt sugar) and followed up with 3 coats of Target satin ultima spray laq. I use a wide variety of water based products. All finishes are sprayed except wipping stains of coarse.

Great work. What did you do to repair the missing veneer?

I used an epoxy filler then colored to match with touch up pigment powders then finished over the repairs.

John, this is wonderful. I love the story behind this piece and I hope the story never gets lost.
You did a wonderful job at resurrecting this piece.

I wondered that myself, She said it was painted like that over 50 years ago. As you could imagine she was shocked when she saw it stripped..

What an exquisite piece of furniture. Thank you for saving it – it should last and be beautiful for years to come. Tell them to keep the paint away from it.
