One of my first attempts. This one is carved in pinion’ pine from Tres Piedras NM from one of our firewood cutting trips. At the time I didn’t know my choice of woods was very hard because my chainsaw cut right through it.So I was amazed how come I had to sharpen my chisels so much.

AWESOME LOOKING CARVINGS. DID YOU SHAPE IT WITH CHAIN SAW, THEN GO TO HAND CHISELS? THE COTTON WOOD MUST HAVE BEEN EASIER THAN THE PINION PINE. NICE WORK.

I didn’t do any shaping with the chainsaw I just fell the dead tree and cut rounds, and yes the cottonwood was much easier to carve. I do appreciate chainsaw carvings. Thank you for your kind words.
