In August I became a Grandfather for the first time! My baby girl (well, she’s 25) had our first Grand baby and he’s perfect (don’t argue with me). Thomas Samuel.

He came into the world weighing 10 lbs. 12 ounces, so he’ll be bigger than me soon!

I made him a keepsake bible box that I hope he can have forever.

The box is made of Cherry and the dark wood is Brazilian Rosewood . I had a brass coin made with his initials, that I embedded as the central accent.

I included a music box that had the movement from a box I made for my daughter years ago. That box got broken and I had the movement in my shop. It plays “When you wish upon a star”

I incorporated a 2017 penny to mark the year. I learned that trick from someone here.

They live in Texas (I’m in Georgia) and they are still moving around a lot, so I had the idea to build a box they could put this box in for moves and so forth. I built that box out of pine. I am painting it and lining with adhesive felt.

Anyway, I’ll give them this at Christmas time.

Congratulations. That’s a big boy. My son and daughter-in-law just made me a grandpa for the third time this past Labor Day, so I know how elated you are.

Thomas is a fine looking lad and in the years that come he will cherish this box. Congratulations, Grandpa, you did a fine job on this.
