Mud Room Cabinets and Countertop

I recently did a facelift on my mom’s mudroom cabinets. The 3rd pic is the original doors, drawer fronts and countertop. I built new doors and drawer fronts and replaced the laminate top with red oak. She wanted to keep the painted frames so we just painted them and the new stuff to match. The door frames and drawer fronts are made of poplar with a plywood panel on the doors. The paint was 2 coats of primer sprayed on then sanded with 400 grit to smooth out any imperfections. 3 coats of paint followed. Needless to say this has inspired an entire kitchen remodel.

Boy that is an amazing upgrade!
The top looks awesome and the cabinets have a much cleaner, classic look to them.
Great job

Dan – the top is only 3/4 thick with an added front lip of 5/4 to make it appear thicker.
