My wife ran across a piece of katalox wood that she had to have so I decided to whip up this dog bowl holder project in a few hours.

Katalox has a high density and is pretty heavy, so even though I re-sawed the wood down to 3/8 thick the dog bowl holder has some definite heft to it. I was also surprised that the katalox had a reddish hue when it typically is purple to almost black.

Needless to say my mini dachshund Pippin approved of the project. Finished with seal coat shellac and General Finishes HP satin polyacrylic.

I love the wood. Congratulations Pippin.

This is a very practical project and so nicely done.

I like that a lot. I need to make one for Baxter – a big, messy male Golden Retriever that lives here.

Very nice! I like how you color coordinated the project with Pippin.
