Pulled a piece of firewood out of the pile and made this shallow bowl. I don’t know the species of wood, it may be from a California Pepper Tree. About 6.5” across. Finished with Hut Crystal Coat.

You never know what beauty lurks inside a piece of firewood. Nice job bringing it back to life.

I think you better make another bowl out of the left over piece, nice colours!

DBB, It’s incredible what creations you can make out of a piece of (s)crap.

When trying to define a piece of timber you cannot identify, adopt the practice of Binomial nomenclature (but with steroids).

The following are a couple of species I have identified and tagged :-

LOSRLog On Side of Road.

BOOMBYBranch Out Of My Back Yard.

IHANII Have Absolutely No Idea.

And if you are really stuck,

Very nice bowl. if only everyone could see what is hidden in firewood, they would probably switch to coal!

Wish my firewood could produce a beautiful bowl like that, just too far north for exotic species
