I built this box for Wendy who works in the office at our lake association. She has taken care of a few billing problems and has always had a smile. It’s so nice to deal with people like that so I decided to make her something. She was more than surprised and happy to receive it.
It is made of honey locust and ash. 11 1/2’’ x 5 1/2’’ x 4’’ high with a raised panel top. I used brown suede as a liner. The wood was resawn from logs, cut into 1’’ boards and dried for a year. Finished with satin lacquer.
Thanks for looking.

I’m sure she was happy to receive it. Looking at it I see an elegant solution for a tray support!

Ivan yes, the smile was the inspiration.

Thanks Thomas. The splines are a simple solution for tray supports.

It shows that you put your heart into the making of the box, matched equally by the way you’ve nurtured your heart. My compliments to both.

Great box Dave. I really like the lift out tray and the way you did the top is very creative!
