Project Information

This cabinet was made for a watch maker to hold watch crystals and to mount a crystal press. Originally designed for Ribbon Sapele I came across this figured Sapele and decided to go with it. Lock mitered on the top, middle and bottom boards are mortised into the sides, 2 coats of Pre-Cat Lacquer finish to keep it subtle, last pic sides sprayed with mineral spirits to show the grain. 17 drawers sized for watchmaker supplied inserts and all hand fitted to the case.

Nice work. A bit of constructive criticism if I could: the drawer pulls are quite utilitarian and do not do justice to the figured Sapele.

LOL! That's what I told the man who paid the bill long before I did it, that's what he wanted and he paid serious money for it, and ordered and bought the pulls. He's pretty happy with it so that's the name of the game. Kinda like putting a plastic saddle on a roping horse. LOL!

You do nice work! I just finished looking at your "Owl" guitar and had to check out some other projects. That wood is beautiful.

Thank You Very Much. One of the 3 SG's I'm going to be making is out of wood left over from this project. Never hurts to have extra good stuff for a later date.
