I’ve got the turning bug! Don’t get too close, it’s catching!
This is my third attempt at bowl turning. I made it from some discarded Bradford Pear that had been seasoning in the firewood pile. It has several cracks which I filled with epoxy. The bowl was intended to be a throwaway practice piece, but the pear had a suprising amount of curl. Maybe I’ve discovered a new genre…..Tiger Pear…maybe not. The pics make the bowl look almost elliptical, but it is truly round.
It measures 5 1/2” diameter and 3 1/2” tall. I was able to turn the wall to 1/4” thickness, but I will have to admit that I had to do a lot of clean-up work with my 60 grit gouge! (followed by my 120…then 150…)
