Just finished this one today Measures 5 1/2” X 4” from a piece of spalted beech I found in the wood pile and the centre band is Walnut, Sometimes I wonder what I do have in there must dig it out and have a look.
Finish is a simple sander sealer and a buff on the buffing system

Beautiful. Love the shape. Were you able to get a snap fit? I have a similar Easter egg I did, that I banded with paduak, and although it was pretty dry, it eventually moved just enough to cause the two pieces to “snap” together which I thought was pretty cool, although unintentional. Really love the color on yours. Something about the naturalness of the spalting is awe inspiring.

Beautiful. The great Faberge (maker of those jeweled Eggs for the Russian Tsars) would be jealous. Did you know he also made things out of wood? Thanks for posting.
