I had promised a box to one of my second grade students if she would improve her Bossy and sort of overbearing behavior. She wanted to give it to her Dad for Father’s Day. I had a Paduak box made. It had a tray of Canary wood. I thought it might not seem like a guy’s box, so I made this one. She really wanted the other and I really liked this one, so we are both happy. To be fair, I gave her mom a cutting board that looks like a Crazy Larry cheese board design carried out through the whole board. (I know I saw the design and instructions for this board on LJ’s, so thanks to Gander?, Shopdog?, Brad Nailer?, or DeGoose?.) Her parents were great about helping with her social ‘Issues”.
Some children are just meant to be in charge of the world, but they have to learn to temper their urges to impose there will on others!!!

-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and now time to work!!!

All of the projects look great. Hopefully your student will continue to work on her social skills. Sometimes they just need a reason to change and you obviously found it. My wife is a 1st grade teacher, so she will be able to appreciate this story when I tell her. Keep up the good work, both with your woodworking and your students.
