My first “big” project after moving into a new house. Took waaaaaaay longer than it should have (started at Christmas, finished them a few days ago).
These were built using these plans: http://hilinski.net/woodgames/howto/howto.html. The plans are designed to build two boards from one 4×4 sheet of plywood. I don’t have a bandsaw so I freehand cut my circles with a jigsaw, then dressed them with a router, 3/4 straight bit, and home-made circle jig. Had to rip my rails on the radial arm saw (made so much fine dust that I set off the smoke detector! The cats went crazy…)
The first pic is the better of the the two—I used what I learned from my mistakes on the other one. :) Both are 1/2 birch plywood for the deck and gutter. The first has poplar rails, the second has red oak rails.
