My first “big” project after moving into a new house. Took waaaaaaay longer than it should have (started at Christmas, finished them a few days ago).

These were built using these plans: The plans are designed to build two boards from one 4×4 sheet of plywood. I don’t have a bandsaw so I freehand cut my circles with a jigsaw, then dressed them with a router, 3/4 straight bit, and home-made circle jig. Had to rip my rails on the radial arm saw (made so much fine dust that I set off the smoke detector! The cats went crazy…)

The first pic is the better of the the two—I used what I learned from my mistakes on the other one. :) Both are 1/2 birch plywood for the deck and gutter. The first has poplar rails, the second has red oak rails.

-- Every time I walk in my shop I thank my dad, my geometry teacher, and my drafting that order.

Nice project… glad you provided the link. I had to go look up Crokinole. Maybe it is the lighting of the photography, but I like the grain patterns of the second one better than the first. Looks like a lot of work.

Crokinole boards is not something I’ve heard of before but it looks good.

That is what we all strive for…improvement. I agree with the others, it looks good.
