It is a sad woodworker’s right of passage. Designed after a birdhouse, as it is a resting place for her remains, but her spirit is free.

I am sorry for your loss. Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful urn and a fine memorial for her loved ones.

It must have difficult the whole time you were building this, but you ended up with a piece that means a lot to you and would make your Mother proud.
Great Job,
Mike

I assume your mother loved birds. This is not only beautiful, it has special meaning with many more memories every time you see it.

Thanks to all for your kind and generous words. This is a great community. Thanks also to those on charge of the Daily Top 3- there’s a lot of really good work and it’s really a boost to the spirits to receive that acknowledgement.
@ Dreggy- mom did love birds and had them for pets twice in her life. A birdhouse speaks to her energy and love of travel also. As John Harford wrote in one of my favorite songs- “It’s knowin’ that your door is always open and your path is free to walk”.
