Project Information

These mesquite burl off-cuts were thrown in with a batch of wood I bought off of craigslist a few months ago. I finally took a good look and saw that 2 pieces were book-matched and when I put them together it had natural handle formed at the small so I figured, cutting board!

You can see I left a live edge around the handle and down the side a bit. It just got too wide and long so I squared it up for the business end.

I was able to make several pen blanks from my trimmings, so while the glue dried I turned a bolt action pen. I think it looks pretty good too!
