This project was inspired by 3fingerpat http://lumberjocks.com/projects/26142, thanks for the idea!
This project was inspired to be made by a friend who took some beautiful pictures of some other friends. I used some Burr Oak that I’d cut down from a log from a storm damaged tree, and the pins/plugs are just odd cutoffs burnt with a sander to darken them. I used mortise and tenon joints for the top, and just half laps for the bottom cross piece, then hand chiseled some square holes for the wood pins. The finish is tung oil.
-- You know.... I think that old wood needs to be furniture.
