Hi,
This top was the smaller of two pieces I found at an out of the way, cool lumber mill/hardwood place. All of the wood is kiln dried, and this makes wife happy. When I told her about the bugs that make the grain, she initially was not happy. They have a lot of old growth Curley/spalted and many surpiises.

The top is 1+1/4 thick. I did not bevel the sides because I wanted the natural corned not to rip out. The side end grain was taken to 600 grit and is smooth as glass.

The legs are bookmatched Curley maple from in the shop.

The aprons and lower legs were a different piece of ambrosia. I still have a longer piece I want to decide what to do with.

Thanks

Very nice. Unusual to see ambrosia and lots of figure in the same board.

One of my favorite woods is the curly ambrosia maple. I got a semi load of ambrosia that had a bunch of curly stock in it. I have built a bunch of projects with it. Great looking table!!!

Thanks for the nice words.

Picture #5 is the longer piece I have. It’s about 48 inches long. I need to plan something special for that.
