This bed is primarily walnut with cherry ply panels and mahogany top rails. I found some nice bookmatched cherry ply with some curly figure. I don’t know if it shows well in the picture. The walnut overlays o the panels are bookmatched sections that are simply cut to follow the curved grain. That’s why they are shaped as they are. There are cherry trim pieces vertically along each post let into a dado. I got a great price on the walnut 4×4 stock but after milled up it was a littl smaller than i wanted for this size bed so I added the cherry along the sides. Finished with 3 coats of Tung oil.
Construction was actually pretty simple although it’s large. There are 4 bed rails underneath. They really square up the bed and make it ridgid.

I like the contrast between the walnut and figured cherry panels. Looks good.
