Rabbit plane

I saw some scrap maple wood that a friend left in the garage yesterday while I was cleaning and noted it was just the right thickness to make a rabbit plane (or at least it was the thickness of the rabbit plane sitting right next to it). So I allowed myself a couple hours goofing off to make this. Only hand tools made this hand tool (except the wedge – I cut it out on the bandsaw) but I sanded with a power sander ‘cause who has the time. The blade was stolen from my other plane.

A lot of us use rescued lumber too. Nice work. Even using a “rescued” blade.

This is a beautiful shop-made plane.

Nice work, looks like a good functional tool.
