This is my first kitchen project. It was done for my brother in law. It took about 5 Sundays to do but it was spread over almost 4 months because of a death in the family in the middle of construction. They are not finished or installed yet. My brother in law is going to do that himself. There are 2 doors which will have glass in them and the rest has 1/4 ply centers. Rails, stiles, and moldings are all made from maple from a local saw mill.

Thanks for looking.

PS You might notice a funny door with a corner missing. No we did not have a wood shortage. Duct work passing in the kitchen. I will post more pictures when they are installed.

Thanks guys. The inspiration came from a picture we found on the internet. It was a very rustic looking kitchen with similar doors. Rustic was the look he wanted so that’s what we did. His present doors are presswood painted white. Everything else is in pine which has yellowed over the years. Now he has to match the maple to the old pine. Myself I would have redid the cupboard facing also but you do what you can with the budget you have. He got a good deal on the labor. Free!

Rex great work as always.

Love the molding’s character with the overhangs. Great visual interest that you do not normally see… Very cool. Like the grain and flow of the wood.

What kind of finish is going on?
Perfect!

Ken; First thanks, the finish is going to be a danish oil I think. I would prefer something with more protection for cupboard doors but hey, that what the brother in want so …. At first he wanted to make pine doors and with an oil finish. I told him I though pine would be too soft without any protection. Also I paid less than $2.50 bdf for the maple. With that he changed his mind.

Thanks Schloemoe

Lanwater, wchips Thanks.

Jack thanks also but I have a question. I am glad like my muttons but I have no clue what muttons are. Want to let me in on the secret?
