Project Information

The wife volunteered me to make a quilt rack for the new daughter-in-law. This idea came to me. It's about 6' tall × 32" wide × 2' deep. Frame is Walnut, dowels are Birch. Frame joints were cut by hand. Dowel joints cut with drillpress. Wedges are Ash (what I had handy). Finished with 4 coats of linseed oil and 4 coats of wipe on polyurethane. I normally like to finish Walnut with oil linseed or dutch oil and then beeswax, but I was afraid the wax would soak into the quilts. I have much respect for the quilters art. I have even stolen some ideas from them for woodworking.

Very nicely done Dave. I really like the wedged through tenons on the base.

Very nice quilt rack. I like the way the top section is pinned, but looks like it is balanced by the quilts.
