I have been doing a lot of work at home recently, and wanted something that would make working on my laptop a little more comfortable. While they may be called laptops, they aren’t especially user friendly or comfortable to use while sitting on your lap. While I consider myself pretty tech savvy, neither my laptop nor its WIRED mouse (oh, the shame!) are particularly modern and are bulky and cumbersome. I wanted a lap desk that would allow me use my outdated technology more efficiently and comfortably.
Made from pine, the lap desk is 31” wide, 13” deep and 13” tall. This is the perfect size for my man cave chair. I milled resawn 2×4s down to 5/8” thick and joined them into a panel 13” wide. I rounded over all edges on the router table.
Obviously, the legs fold flat for storage. I designed the legs to slide between the cushion and arms for stability. The legs use 1 1/2” kreg screws as pivot points.
I finished the lap desk with Minwax Red Mahogany, and several coats of Polycrylic.
My highly trained attack dog is a fan!
Thanks for looking!
