This is smaller than i usually make…5.5×3x7.5”..My wife always says i oughta make some smaller boxes…but i usually have a difficult time thinking small.
The wood is Bocote…really nice to work with and finishes nicely. I used 7 coats of lacquer and then gave it a buffing.

I really like that smaller style also. Let us know how it goes over at the shows.

Greg,

I had to make the measurement a bit concrete and I can see it’s definitly smaller. But you were able to carve it with no problems. It will be interesting to see if your wife is right.

With your new technique you could do a sponge bob box ? Just thinking outside the box.

That is gorgeous! Do you spray lacquer or brush it on?

Thank you everyone…you comments are always appreciated.

Having a real nice piece of wood makes so much of a difference. I like using the Bocote and the Bocote likes getting into my wallet.

I used the spray lacquer on this one. I prefer the Deft satin finish that I get at Home Depot

It will most likely sell because Carol is most always right.

Carol is right but I personally enjoy carving the boxes when they are just a bit larger. Noty as tiedious (or however the heck it is spelled)
