Project Information
A friend asked me to make a Hard maple bench for a wedding gift. The plan is to have the wedding guest sign the bench and then put a coat of poly/varnish to seal it…which means I don't have to put a finish on (YAY!!!).
It is made of 8/4 H. Maple. I used half lap joints to assemble the legs, which took two tries to get right. This build was also my first attempt at a through mortise & tenon for the cross bracing. I learned I need to sharpen my chisels. The angle braces are screwed from the underside. It is sanded down to 220 grit.
It was a fun build, and since my wife liked it I may get another shot at building another one.
