It took me a while, but I finally found the photos of a bookrack I designed and built for the church choir office when the metal table collapsed under the weight of years and abuse. The photo session was supposed to show the piece in all its naked glory, but in the short time between removing the old table and setting up the rack (about fifteen minutes), somebody sneaked in and loaded up the rack with junk—whereupon our “choir mama” let loose with a few unpastoral expletives. We didn’t have any handy place to put the junk, so we just took the photos with it included. You should have heard Mama’s language when somebody put a foot-long scratch on the finish a week later (which I was able to hide almost completely, but still …). The other photos aren’t suitable for posting, as they show more of certain choir members’ behinds than the rack; they insisted on “doing stuff” while we were trying to take pictures. As to the sideways view, I thought I had fixed that, but I’m a lot better with wood than I am with photography, obviously. Just lie down on your side to get the full effect, I guess.

zzz.zzz.z..
oh sorry.. I was laying down to see the pix and next thing you know..zzz. :)
15 min and it was being used – hmmm either it was extremely needed or there are a lot of “drop and run” people using the room.
It looks wonderful and I do believe it is definitely going to be put to use.

Nice bookcase, and wonderful joinery. Sounds like some of the Choir members need a “timeout” and learn to play nice like big boys and girls.

From now on, I am definitely only putting up “right-side up” photos. I really thought I had it fixed, but I guess we all have our little delusions. I got a crick in my own neck trying to get a good look, and I know what it looks like. As for the choir members learning to play like big boys and girls—the majority are great. The small minority that acts a little off, strangely enough, is the bunch that can’t sing worth a hoot. I try to avoid standing next to the Titanic voice—he pulls everyone around him down with him when he starts to sink. Now if Mama and I could just solve the Great Missing Music Mystery … who on earth is going to steal for personal use a four-part church hymn? Is that what they call a “mystery of faith”? A friend of mine who goes to temple on Saturday says they don’t have such trouble … and it’s all backwards, anyway. Oy.

Great job on the bookcase! I’m sure all the choir members appreciate your efforts.

Looks great. Baltic birch can make some neat furniture.
