Today I built this stand for my handheld 4-3/8 inch planer. I find it very useful in that I can now use my planer as a joiner. It is mounted by the handle which rests in the cut out slot in pic. 2. Thanks for looking!

Ive often thought of doing this but didnt think it would work. Now Im encouraged to give it a try. Thanks.

Good idea, but the lack of a blade guard-porkchop on a regular jointer- would make me nervous.

Thanks for the reply, Bluepine38. I would agree that a blade guard would be valuable; when I use it I have to be very cautious of what I am doing, however, I find it a lot more practical than trying to afford a real joiner at this time. Thanks for your interest in it, I really appreciate it! Dale
