I made this entertainment center about 9 years ago. It is in alder veneer, ply, and solid stock. The finish is just a clear polyurethane.

Nice job on that. Natural Alder looks better than I thought it would.

Looks great from the side view, great built-in. Do you have some photos looking straight on the entertainment center?

Reeks of good design and craftsmanship John. Of all the entertainment centers I’ve seen, I like yours the best and I mean that. I’m also very partial to Alder which I feel is a much underused in woodworking today. Maybe it doesn’t lend itself to commercial harvesting and processing. I haven’t personally made any furniture out of it, but it is wonderful to carve, and has a beautiful coloration. Here in Norway there are two varieties, Gray and Black Alder or ‘Or’ as we call it. I haven’t a clue what they different varieties are called in the States. I’m just in checking out your bent lamination work in the hope of getting some inspiration. I’m not intending to copy anything though.

We have whats called Red Alder. It resembles Cherry in grain pattern and somewhat in color.
