A Replica 18th Century easle made from black alder. The finish is spirit stain and shelack. The ratchet mechanism was cared from the wood and brass formed by hand over the steps to give strength. The most difficult part was the shaping of the back splat, to slide smoothly in the top rail.

Thank Jiri, the forming of the brass steps over the wood took a while but was necessary to give strength to the ratchet mechanism. Also there wasn’t any thing commercially available so I had to make it myself.
