Another wood burning project! Trying for an Asian styled landscape design. This is the first time that I tried playing with acrylic paints on the wood along before burning the design. There is actually a good bit of gold paint which has a nice reflective quality that you can’t see from the picture.

The image is burned into birch plywood with acrylic paint and multiple wood stains. The frame is an arts & craft style out of african mahogany.

I have always admired the art of wood burning. My former wife and I had a few pieces of furnature. ( she still has them). I was told the wood burning like this originaly was called tramp art.( no disrepect). They called it that because the hobo’s that rode the railcars to get places whould sit around a camp fire and carve into wood with another peice of wood that was in the fire. Please correct me if I’m wrong. But anyway I think the art is beautiful..
