I needed to have a dinner table for when I go Rendezvous camping. There is a second one. I need to hit it with some #0000 steel wool before I put it together. They both break down for storage and travel. They are made of Poplar. I chose Poplar for it’s light wieght and strength. I knew I would have an issue with staining Poplar. But awhile back Mark Spagnola (The Wood Whisperer) had a vid on his site about staining Poplar. He showed using a 50/50 mix of the stain of your choice with some shellac. This would be your first coat. It seals the wood as well as allows additional coats, of the stain, to be put on without the unpleasant discolorations you get from Poplar. The tables will be under cover, not in the eliments on a continuous basis. All dowel and tight bond 3 construction. There are no metal fasteners at all. Hopefully if other re-enactors like em, I can sell a couple. We will see on June 16th. I am going to a 10 day Rendezvous in Spencer Ohio. I’am not sure it quallifies as a Greene and Greene style table?

That came out looking really good! Nice style and construction. I’m sure it will be a hit at the Rendezvous along with your chairs.
