I made this box with some Wenge I picked up at the lumberyard last week. I wanted to see how it worked and what kind of finish would result since I had never used it before. Wenge is a wood that splinters easily when cutting and routing. All I can say is that I am glad I keep some tweezers in my shop.
I finished it with sprayed lacquer and sanded with 600 grit between coats. The wenge is a bit too dark for my taste…my wife said it looks like Hersheys DARK Chocolate… and the grain is not anything special. It seems overpriced for what it is.
