It has been awhile since I posted, I had a month and a half virus and after thart it was just one thing after another. I was out in my shop but I sure wasn’t doing much. I’m back to normal and the dust is starting to fly.

On this piece I was going to make it look like the finch was inside the box (Tromp l’oeil) but I made the finch to big. So he ended up on top and to keep him there I gave him some seed. I used the window method cutting with a knife. The box is red oak and measures 5’‘X7”X3”. I rounded the edges of this box because I liked the look it gives Al’s (Boxguy) boxes. I used to do this years ago and then I got away from it for some unforgotten reason.

Any and all comments are appreciated. If you see something I could have done better then please say so, I am always trying to improve and do better on the next one.

Nice one Don. The shots from overhead do have I certain amount of trompe l’œil going on. I bet you nail it next time.
Good looking box.

This is an outstanding box and has a lot of nice details and craftsmanship.
