We’ve got our house up for sale so have moved up to our cabin for the time being. Has been our weekend place since I built it, but being here full time has revealed a lack of storage space. Having no pantry was the toughest thing to get used to, so I broke down Monday and made a run to HD. Put together this quick and dirty corner cupboard/pantry after seeing some simple plans online. I used pine because I had planned on painting it to give a little contrast with the knotty pine T&G walls, wood floors, wood cabinets, etc. By the time I had finished Tuesday I had backed away from paint. I always have a hard time painting wood… I still may go back and paint it, but for now it got finished with old-school amber shellac.
Shelves rest on dados in the cabinet back and face frame. Beadboard interior and door panels. I took the opportunity to play with my Domino for the first time and used it on the face frame and door rails and stiles. I can already see where the Domino is going to get a lot of future use… Unbelievable how there is almost no dust cutting those mortises.
I can’t remember the last project I did with pine. Man that stuff is soft. Ended up with some dents and dings after applying the finish in the process of using some clamps hanging the doors… oh well, not meant to be a furniture quality piece anyway.

I like it.

Best part is you got it done quickly and it’s doing it’s job.

My projects linger on way too long.

This is a very nice corner cabinet.
