Hi Everyone These are my small box series of 10, actually these where completed before my latest series of 5 maple boxes, and I am trying to work backwards a bit, and get some of my other projects posted onto LBJ’s. All ten are made from poplar boards that me and my niece, Allison, sorted out of my pallet board collection. It took about 3 hours for us to find enough like type boards to make the 10, originally wanted to make 12. All ten have the identical construction method, inset floor (made of a plywood type), if I had it to do over, I would have made all wood floors, I digress, all have box joints, with a stepped mitered, paneled lid. I mortised all brass hinges in each, with two different types of front catches, and two types of chain where used to give each a “one of a kind” aspect to it. The center panels are two different types, one is leopard wood, (my brother gave to me, thanks Herb), and the other 6, have weathered beach, left over from the Joe’s Display Case project (the wood was from a tree that fell over at my sweetheart’s, Cindy’s camp/home, thanks honey). The walnut was glued on prior to the panel grove, lid lip, and top bevel cuts. It was some left over from some of my pallet wood. I used a number of different finish styles, most where done with natural stain, then polyurethane, some satin, some clear, and a couple I just used linseed oil, then some floor wax. This was my first attempt at a series of 10, I had done a series of 8 when I first started, I will try to collect the pics and post them as well, OK, that is enough about my boxes, thanks to everyone for taking a look, and all the encouragement you have all given me. Keep working and sharing

Great boxes; just enough difference to make them unique. Your box joints look very nice as does everything else. Good job!

Great job, itsmic! I am thinking of making some small boxes like this as well, so they instantly drew my attention. I am always looking for some inspiration, so thank you for that. I look forward to seeing more from you!
