Zebra wood and poplar scraps. I wasn’t happy with the hinges. I need to develope some wooden hinges. I hate hardware. Anyway I mitered the poplar sides, resawed the zebrawood, sanded and glued it together. The next day I cut it open, made the mortises for the hinges, put it back together and finished it with a mixture of poly, linseed oil and mineral spirits. Finally, I steel wooled it and applied paste wax and buffed.

I really like this box. I think you might like a hidden wooden hinge on it. Nice wood.

Nice box, well executed. The wooden hinges aren’t that hard, I think you will like them one you finally give it a try.

Great little box.

Installing them tiny brass hinges and screws drives me crazy!

Great looking box. Small barrel hinges might work also.
