I am going to be in several art festivals this summer throughout Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Chicago. I thought Andy’s sculpted art boxes would be a huge hit. I messaged him to ask permission to use the design, of course he said “yes”.
I found a new supplier where I can get 3’ and 4’ cutoffs of cherry and walnut for $1.40 bdf. Which is why they are all made of walnut or cherry.
All together it took me about 3 weeks working full time to get everything complete. I got pretty good at the sculpting part, in my opinion. I recently got ahold of my sisters flex shaft carver and got some carbide tipped burs so I can get more detailed in the carvings.
Lessons learned:
-it takes a lot longer to do something 17 times than it does to do it once.
-doing something 17 times is not as fun as doing it 2 or 3 times.
-buy sandpaper in bulk.

Again I am drawn to the lighter boxes… I am sure however that all will be well received. JMHO

Incredible boxes!! Some people have all the talent. The rest of us have trouble drawing a straight line.
