I’ve been wanting to make a pedestal farmhouse table for quite some time, but felt I needed a little practice before I tackled that project. This coffee table is essentially a miniature version of the table I want to build. There were a couple of firsts with this build. It was my first time using mortise and tenon joints and the first attempt at breadboard ends. Neither were perfect, but I learned a lot. My mortises ended up a little loose…so dowels were added to the leg tops and bottoms. The bracing was attached with with both mortise & tenon and pocket screws.

The finished product has a few warts, but I’m feeling more confident I can put together the larger version when the time comes.

The top and legs are mahogany and the feet/bracing is hickory. It was finished with a couple coats of Minwax poly.

Really nice! I like the contrast of the wood. Hickory is tough, isn’t it

Great build. Good luck with the table next.

Well done , don’t look at what went wrong, but the final result, but I must admit doing the same thing.
The reward is when you do better on another project. Keep on making saw dust and thank you for showing.
