Oh my gosh this was great fun and an awesome “quick win” in the shop. After turning this on the new Excelsior Lathe from Rockler I invested in some micromesh pads to sand smoother. I loved the deep color of the wood and saved some shavings for some resin casting should I try that in the future.

Really, really loved doing this.

What a lovely pen! Bloodwood is a beautiful wood…I have a couple of blanks to turn myself and am looking forward to creating something pretty like yours! Nice job and woot on saving some shavings. I have seen some shaving-resin pens and they are cool! :)

Nice pen. This is one of my favorite woods for making pens. I don’t recall seeing any shavings and resin pens, but sounds interesting. I’ll have to do some googling on that.
