Over the years I have been asked to design mounts and build projects around many different types of memorabilia. This project was built for a co-worker of one of my neighbors. They were involved in the design and testing of parts of the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) on the new aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford. I was told that this shuttle is one of the components that travels inside the catapult track during aircraft launch. I have no idea how it works but I do know it makes a pretty cool mount for a clock and should be a good conversation piece for the recipient. I built this out of Walnut and finished it with several coats of clear lacquer. The coin rack will hold about 25 challenge coins.

Tim, I really like this one! The style of the clock really sets it off. Nice!
