just my feeling, PLEASE DO NOT GET OFFENDED.
I would have used another form, heart- or leaf-like (IMO that rectangle resembles a stone tomb IMO, but maybe it’s the lighting in your photo that makes me think of it, I don’t know). Why not to add a bit of color, mixing natural finish wood with color painted wood?

I had the same first impression as Antonio. I think it’s because in the thumbnail on the projects page all you can read is “Born 5-24-2010” and then the rest is cut off. I thought to myself, “please don’t let this be a headstone!” I’m glad it’s not.

The carving is excellent. I love the blocks. Nice job, that’s a great gift.

That’s the first thought of mine also…a tombstone sorry. ”Perception is reality until educated otherwise”

Thanks everyone for your comments. To Doordude: the rose is a relief carving not an add on. Antonio, I think the lighting is giving you that tombstone feel, I was trying to get the shadows so you can see the depths that’s why no flash. I like the leaf idea. That was the only peace of wood I had to carve that’s why it’s a rectangle shape.
