This is my 25th bowl. It was turned from a piece of Box Elder with a walnut spiggot glued into the back before turning. I hit the walnut when I turned the inside which accounts for the dark spot in the center. This is a gift bowl for my sister in law. It has a minimum amount of red in it for an accent.

Fantastic bowl! Love the walnut “accent” in the center. Nice touch.

Keep it up.

I haven’t worked with Box Elder before. I really like the grain in it.

I know this was a while back, but, I’m fairly new, and I’ve been usin the shuffle method to look at projects like yours. I really like the look of the red grain patterns in anything with Box Elder. How is this wood to turn? Keep on turnin

Great bowl Jim – simple , elegant. Looks a lot like it’s ceramic in the photo. Very attractive!
