Cherry Night Stand

This is one of a pair of nightstands I made in 2006 as part of a woodworking course at Palomar College. It is 26”w x 21”d x 28”h. The primary wood is cherry with maple drawer sides, and the trim is cocobolo. The design is based on a picture I saw of a cabinet produced by Michael Colca Furniture, with some changes in trim details and probably the overall dimensions. The finish is two coats of Liberon oil, followed by six coats of semigloss Armorseal, and rubbed out with Black Bison paste wax and 0000 steel wool.

These pictures were taken right after I finished them. Over the last four years the cherry has mellowed nicely.

Beautiful work. The book matching on the sides and doors really is nice.
