I made these end tables to match the headboard I made a few years ago for my daughter and son-in-law. I used rough sawn red oak with American Oak Gel Stain and satin polyurethane. The drawers look normal in the out position but if they’re pulled all the way out, a secret compartment is revealed.

I was pleased with dust control when building these, thanks to my new downdraft table, router table top, and cyclone dust collector. They all worked great!

You did a great job. I like the secret compartment. They will enjoy these for years, and pass them down.

That’s the prettiest finish for red oak I’ve ever seen. Very very nice job on the tables, the hidden compartments and the whole design.
