I made a playhouse for my grand daughter in the early spring. My daughter called a couple of months ago after seeing the aforementioned play house and said my SIL wanted my help in building a treehouse. He had already built the platform a couple of years ago so we just had to put a house on it. I thought just a simple house like my granddaughter.
This one ended up 1 1/2 stories with a gable dormer and balcony. I wanted to do a shed dormer but Dan wanted a gable dormer. I told him he wanted that he could spend the time figuring the angles and cutting them. He did a pretty good job on it. I came back the first of July he had the roof mostly shingled and dormer was done except for siding the front. We sided the gable ends, the dormer, floored the balcony and installed a railing and framed for the windows. The windows came today so this afternoon we hung the windows and cut out and installed the sunroof. Then had beer it was only about 95 out, working in a tree you are mostly in the shade. Tomorrow morning we will put a few shingles on the roof and done. Grandson will be 6 on Sunday done just in time for that.
Client seems to approve they were under foot for the last half hour.

I’ve been thinking about one for my grandkids. One of our decks is only about 20 away from a huge oak tree in the back. Thinking of a 20 ft bridge nearly level from the deck to the tree house. No ladders to climb for the little ones.
Your’s gives me some great ideas for the build. Love your design. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome job! Built one for my kids years ago. They had it from about the age of your grandson until they went to college before i tore it down. (Now that they are in their 30’s and tell me stories I realized that thing was used as everything from an innocent children’s playhouse to a den of inequity and drunken debauchery as they aged. :-) )

Rest assured that the tree house that grand dad built will be a huge part of their lives and memories. Nice job and nice work!

Very cool.
They may be a bit too young now, but you must modify it later to have a “fireman’s pole” to slide down for quick escapes.
