Picture one is the final outcome which has three coats of thin super glue on a redish transitint. I used quilted maple vaneer and boiled it for 12 minutes. Which is when I learned that if you are going to boil light colored wood make sure your pot is clean. Mine wasn’t and it left black specks all over the wood so I sanded off what I could and hid the rest under the tint.
I have to thank Franklad for his tips on making a wooded ring. I don’t think I did it quite right. My ring is vaneer that is rolled like you would a piece of paper you want to put in a tube. I then glued it with gorila glue and let it set up. Well it was kind of a mess but I like it. I hope to do more that look better. The next one won’t be so wide. I will keep experimenting its all good as long as i’m in the shop.
Thanks for looking all comments welcome.

Nice ring.

I always thought that turned rings were cool. I guess I will have to looks at Franklad’s post on doing them. I always wondered on how to figure out the size, with wood always moving.

Thanks for the kind words. I can still see all the little mistakes. Sorry the photos aren’t the best I had to use my iphone.
Eagle1 I just wrapped the wood around the finger I wanted the ring for and marked it there. Franklad’s posts helped a lot but I still think I did it wrong or at least differently.

Great ring. As for your comment about “doing it wrong”......If it worked, it was NOT wrong, just different.
We all have our own ways of doing things and that is what this site is about. Great job and looking forward to seeing your next one.
Keep it up.

Excellent first attempt on bentwood rings. Funny how we always see our own mistakes and others may not even notice them. As long as those black specks were distributed throughout the ring it could have added to the uniqueness…a one of a kind. I noticed the CA battle scarred fingers as I too wear them proudly. :)
Have your say...
