I don’t normally post boards anymore, as I’ve made and sold over 350 of them. But these ones were different from the others and we’re inspired from a master board maker I found on you tube. I’ve chatted with him and purchased plans from him as well. The guy is a machine when it comes to boards. http://mtmwood.com/

I had so much scraps and was always wondering what to do with them. Once I watched his video on youtube, Chaos Boards, I was hooked. Funny thing is making them wastes some wood but with that said, I was never going to use all the small cutoffs i was accumulating. Once the board was done, I personally didn’t like it. It was way too busy for me & just not my style. However all 4 sold instanly when people saw them. My one buddy called it the African or Rasta board.

The other boards Walnut and Hard Maple I added an extra endgrain boarer in them. This took more work but I love the extra visual interest it gives them. I made 10 boards this batch the other chaos board I didn’t do the angle cutting to see how that looked.

The chaos boards had Paduck, sepele , purple heart, maple, walnut, yellow heart and maybe some more, lol

All boards were soaked in mineral oil and then waxed. Thx for looking.

Great boards, Ken. Like you, I’m not so sure I like the chaos board from a strictly visual point of view. But from a woodworker point of view I am totally intrigued! I’m going to have to watch the video to see how it’s done.

Awesome Chaos boards! :)

Picture #5:
Ken, how did you glue, cut, glue, cut, etc. to get such CHAOS with no gaps, etc.
I think it’s going to be something very simple… BUT… (
?) :)
That looks like it took a lot of extra time to do… Yes?

Great work!

Thank you!

Ken, I’ve been tracking mtm on YouTube for awhile. We can learn a lot from him. The work your doing albeit not liking will expand into your work, nice job!

I am with you on the first two boards and the chaos boards are well made but there are people with different likes so variety is the secret to sales .

Some more information on MTMwood.

If you go to youtube and type in MTMwood all his videos will come up and they are all well worth a look including his workshop setup. (info via courtesy of Degoose)
