Yes, More Boxes

Some of you continue to express concern that I have been completely seduced by the lathe. Not to worry. Here are a couple of boxes I’ve been working on.

The first is maple and walnut. I was trying to be a little whimsical with the multi-angled handle and feet. The second is maple and Cuban mahogany. Both are finished with BLO, wipe-on poly, and a rub out with rottenstone in paraffin oil.

All questions/comments/criticism welcome.

Beautiful boxes Charlie. You have really grown as a craftsman in the past year or so – it’s been a joy to watch the transformation take place, I can’t wait to see what level you finally reach. Should be a great one. Your choice of materials, design and workmanship have really developed nicely.

I’m glad you haven’t stopped, because I’ve not gotten mine yet.

Beautiful as always.

I really like the Maple and Walnut box, it has a bit of quirkiness to it (in a good way) and is very pleasing to look at.

Wow, Charlie, these are great!
I like them both… they are very different and unusual in their own way.
Nice work.

Go Charlie!

Nice little boxes.
I see you still have some of that banding left over. You put it to good use.

Beautiful boxes Charlie I love the colour of that Cuban Mahogany I didn’t know you could still get it. Did you make your own banding? Thanks for showing them to us.
