The latest copy of Wood magazine showed a screw driver kit from Rockler. So I decided to take a break from making other people stuff, and made myself a screw driver. It turned out pretty well.

The handle is walnut, and was finished with mineral oil.

Nice handle! You can skip the kit, (and save on shipping) that is, if you can get your hands on a better ferule than the offerings at the Big Orange Box (at least they have the little kit with a temporary orange handle.

made a few of these myself. :http://lumberjocks.com/projects/962
One of the catalogs that showed up recently sells just the brass ferrules, i’m tempted to get some, which means hacking up the few remaining orange handles in the basement.

Nice David. I saw this and thought it might be fun to make a few. Thanks for the tip, Scott.

Nice job, David. I think about these once in a while and some day will make a few. It is always good to stop and make something for yourself; I mean that is why we started this, isn’t it?

I still use the one Scott made me all the time. Works great.

This one looks nice and should provide years of service.
