These are a set of frames I did for a friend. He found the eagle pictures for himself and the flowers for his GF at a local fair on the cheap. We spent an afternoon doing all the routing and cutting, then he left me with the finishing. Luckily I was able to stick most of the sanding on him!
They are finished with a minwax one step poly-stain that I did 3 times using 0000 steel wool in between. It is the same stuff I used on a set of shuttle frames a few projects back. Pretty nice stuff if you want a simple good looking finish; thought it does cover all the grain.
Tried a few clamping methods, and found that the picture frame jig works well, but you have to sit it flat on the ground or else it can twist the frame slightly… oops! The miters were made a lot easier by the addition of FF biscuits which I did for the first time here. Definitely a winner for doing miter joints. OK, enough ranting out of me, especially on a simpler project. Enjoy the pictures!
